HOW WE WORK

Artemis Care provides highly flexible individualised care options to help our clients to stay living in their own homes with the help and support that they need. Our holistic approach ensures that our clients stay as independent and content as possible with the choice, comfort, sense of wellbeing and quality of life that one to one care at home in familiar surroundings affords.

We work extremely hard to ensure our clients and carers are well matched and the wishes of our clients are respected. Well matched clients and carers make for a more harmonious life for both parties. Our intention is to encourage a long-term relationship that both enhances and enriches our client’s quality of life where they feel secure and comfortable at home, with the care that they need. It also provides peace of mind for loved ones too.

When you contact Artemis Care for yourself or a loved one this is a brief guide to the initial process.

AN INITIAL CHAT

A no obligation, free of charge initial chat to discuss how we can best help you by talking through potential options and the associated approximate costs for daily or live-in care.

We take a holistic approach to our very flexible, highly individualised care options. Our experience has taught us that by promoting and maintaining a client’s dignity, choice, independence and control we maximize quality of life for them which is of paramount importance and essential for their overall sense of wellbeing.

We can offer guidance and reassurance in what can be a very worrying and distressing time for our loved ones as they embark on a big change in their lives. It isn’t always easy to accept that one needs help or that it has become too much for family members to continue in the role of carer. Sometimes for a variety reasons, not least a feeling of loss of independence or fear of the unknown, there can be resistance to accepting professional care. We understand this and can help reassure and guide loved ones and families throughout this process.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

We will send you a registration form and once completed we will then organise a mutually convenient time for an in-depth telephone assesment or a home visit where we discuss all aspects of the needs of the client, including health care, specific dietary needs or preferences, likes, dislikes, daily routines, hobbies, interests and essential information.

We will also have an opportunity to discuss the various care options available according to your needs such as, respite, short-term or long-term care, your expectations of the carer, duration of the rota and how long you would ideally like each carer to stay. We usually find that two or three carers working regularly with one client is optimal, this minimises disruption and ensures continuity of care with familiar carers where good relationships can be fostered and flourish.

This initial process has proven very helpful for clients or loved ones and is essential for us so that we have a comprehensive overview in order to successfully match client’s needs and requirements with suitable carers.

We can also give a quotation of the approximate weekly costs of appropriate care.

PREPARATION OF CARE ROLE DESCRIPTION

We will prepare an in-depth appraisal of every aspect of your specific care needs and individual carer requirements. This gives potential carers a thorough understanding of the needs of the client and demands of the role. This initial document is anonymised in order to protect the privacy of the client.

This document is kept by ourselves as long as you are registered with us and will be updated regularly should care/personal needs or the nature of the role change.

SELECTING SUITABLE CARERS FOR THE CLIENT

We will create a list of carers that we feel match your specific requirements and ascertain their current and ongoing availability and preferred duration of work assignments so we can best meet your needs.

All of our registered carers have successfully completed a rigorous vetting procedure carried out by ourselves. This includes face to face interviews, background and paperwork checks such as a valid DBS certificate, Training and Insurance documentation, Tax and National Insurance checks.

We only accept carers who meet our very high standards, are experienced, reliable and have excellent references from previous clients.

WE LIASE WITH YOU TO DISCUSS THE SUITABILITY OF INDIVIDUALLY SELECTED CARERS

Once we have completed the selection process we will discuss with you the carers that we feel are most suitable for you to consider. We usually suggest an initial trial period of 2 to 3 weeks to see how things work out.

WE PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE CARER OF YOUR CHOICE

When a decision on a compatible carer has been reached we will provide you with the relevant information of the carer you have chosen which will include a recent photograph, details of relevant experience and their preferred pattern of work.

Clients may prefer to leave the final decision to us and we are very happy to provide you with a carer that we feel is most suitable.
Should you prefer to have a telephone call or video chat with prospective carers yourself we are very happy to help facilitate this.

We will endeavour to put care in place for you as quickly as possible but it can sometimes take several days to set up initially, depending on carer suitability and availability at the time of booking.

CARE COMMENCES

Once a carer has been selected and a start date agreed upon we will send a confirmation of booking to both client and carer. After care commences we will be on hand to assist with any questions or issues that may arise, and to check that things are going well.

We will do our best to make the process as stress free as possible and ensure that things run smoothly. We will help and support you should issues arise along the way and look forward to supporting your plans regarding care going forward.

TRANSPARENT COSTS

We charge a nominal lifetime one-off registration fee which helps with the extensive initial process of selecting an appropriate carer(s) for each client’s individual needs. This fee is charged only once, irrespective of the number of carers introduced, and is valid for the duration of the client/agency relationship.

We charge a weekly fee for our ongoing services, as set out in the Terms of Business, and the carer separately charges their agreed weekly care fee.

As they are self-employed the carer keeps 100% of their fees, we do not deduct anything. Part of their fee is used by them to cover their own costs such as taxes, national insurance, training, carer’s insurance and holidays.
